Privacy Policy
1. Overview
richterscale.io is operated as a personal project. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it — in plain language.
We do not use tracking pixels, advertising networks, or analytics tools. We do not sell your data. Ever.
2. Data We Collect
The only personal data we ask you for is your email address, and only if you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter. Two things happen without you entering anything: our hosting providers record server logs including your IP address (section 5), and signing in to the application stores a token in your own browser (section 6). We collect nothing else — no profile, no tracking, no advertising identifiers.
- What: Email address
- Why: To send you the richterscale newsletter (Mondays and Thursdays)
- Legal basis: Your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR)
- Stored: In our newsletter service provider's database
3. Newsletter
We use a double opt-in procedure. After you enter your address, we send you a confirmation email; your subscription only begins when you click the link in it. If you never click, the address is not added to our list. This protects you from being signed up by someone else, and it is how we document your consent as required by Art. 7 para. 1 GDPR: our newsletter provider records the time of your confirmation.
The newsletter is sent on Mondays and Thursdays. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send. Upon unsubscribing, your email address will be permanently deleted from our list within 30 days.
We use Brevo to manage our subscriber list and send emails. Your email address is stored on their servers. Their privacy policy is available at brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy.
4. Fonts & Technical Assets
This website uses self-hosted fonts. No font files are loaded from Google Fonts or any other external CDN. No data is transmitted to third parties for the purpose of displaying fonts.
One external resource is loaded: the charting library Chart.js from the content delivery network jsDelivr (operated by ProspectOne, Poland; files served from servers worldwide). Your browser transmits its IP address to that network when the page loads. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in delivering the page reliably (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR). See jsdelivr.com privacy policy.
5. Hosting and Server Infrastructure
This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. (340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA). Vercel may process server logs including IP addresses for security and operational purposes. For details, see vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
The newsletter subscription and the market data shown on this page are served by a backend hosted with Render Services, Inc. (525 Brannan St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). Your browser contacts this backend when the page loads, transmitting your IP address; when you subscribe, it also transmits your email address. For details, see render.com/privacy.
Vercel, Render and jsDelivr may process data outside the European Union. Transfers to the United States are based on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and/or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. The richterscale Application
Beyond this website we operate a password-protected application for equity analysis. It is not publicly accessible: a shared password is required, and without it no data is served.
What happens when you sign in: your password is transmitted to our server, compared, and discarded — it is never stored. On success your browser receives a signed token that proves you passed the check. The token is kept in your browser's local storage for 30 days and contains no personal data. We set no cookies for this. Clearing your browser data removes it; so does a change of the shared password, which invalidates every token immediately.
Legal basis: performance of the access you requested and our legitimate interest in keeping unpublished analysis non-public (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b and lit. f GDPR).
The application shows market data and information from mandatory public filings (e.g. SEC insider and institutional filings), which can include the names of company officers and elected officials. This information is published by the authorities themselves; we do not enrich it, and we do not combine it with any other source.
7. Cookies
This website does not set any cookies. We do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising cookies.
8. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union, you have the following rights:
- Right to access your personal data
- Right to rectification of inaccurate data
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to withdraw consent at any time
- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at: hello@richterscale.io
